PLAYERS ON PACE TO HIT 60 HOME RUNS

A. Rodreguez-- This NYY 3rd baseman is a power-house hitter who is on pace to hit 114 homers this year. His record year for home runs was in 2002 when he hit 57 for the Texas Rangers and ended with a 300 batting Avg. Wonder if he has been random tested yet.
All minor leauge players are not on pace as of now to hit 60 homers. B. Bonds has started to come alive and is now only 15 homers short of Hank Aarons all time record. As of today there are only three players still on a 60 plus pace to hit 60.
Player to whatch is V. Guerrero of the LAA (Anaheim) who is batting .400 with 5 homers in 16 games.

Home Run Stats as of April 7, 2007

My players to watch list really fizzled out. Only double A Reid Brignac from my watch list is on pace to hit over 60 homers. Sosa and Bonds are off to a slow start, each on pace to hit 40 homers in 2007. Two players from the triple-A Mexican league are on pace to hit over 60 home runs, but play in a much shorter season than most of baseball. Home town favored V. Guerrero of the former Anaheim Angles (now the L.A.A.) Is on pace to hit 81 homers. So we have 8 players on pace to hit 60 or more home runs after just a week or two of baseball. The season just started and anything can still happen, stay tuned.

60 HOMERS CLUB, 2007 SEASON

BASEBALL 2007

A new season starts today. Will we have a new member joining the 60 Homers Club this year? Probily not. Funny how hitting 60 homers in a season has happened six times in the last few years, then mandatory drug testing began and then POOF! Nobody gets close.

The three players- McGuire, Bonds and Sosa have made the 60 Homers Club, but may fail at ever being in the Hall of Fame. McGuire only got 23% of the vote for first year of eligibility (he needed 75%) to get into Cooperstown. Clearly the sports writers are not impressed with his drug assisted home run stats.

Bonds has slowed to a point where he most likely will be injured or retire before going ahead of Hank Aaron. Having been found out about his drug use and his treatment by the press I think the 'fire' he had for baseball is going out. He needs 22 homers to pass Aaron.

If the public did not respect his 73 homers, why would they respect his 756. It will be a big deal in San Francisco, but the other big-league venues generally will feel about him the same way they feel about flamed intestines. If he were to hit No. 756 in say New York, the locals likely would react by attempting to carjack his athletic supporter.

Look for no. 756 to be hit in San Francisco, if it happens at all. Fate should determine where the historic homer happens, but the possibility of the Giants and baseball venturing down another troubling path could end up trying to manipulate history, something that should by all that is natural- result in one's soul burning to ash. I believe not even #25 would want that. Time to retire.

Sosa has to be wondering what it takes to win a batting title, he hit 60 home runs three times, every time someone else hot more than he did. Because of this Sosas' drug use gets overlooked. Tommy Lasorda said in an interview that it is most obvious in Sosa's case that steroids were used. It's two different players, the one before his 60 homers days and the one during his 60 homers days. Then comes mandatory drug testing and he reverts back to his pre 60 homer days.

While I do not think anyone will hit 60 home runs this year there are some players to watch, at lest one will hit 50 or more I think.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

D.H. David Ortiz (Boston)
1 B. Ryan Howard (Philadelphia)
1 B. Albert Pujols (St. Louis)
S.S. Reid Brignac (Montgomery Biscuits) Southern League-AA

NOW LETS PLAY BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Hall of Fame

Mark McGuire recieved only 23% of the 75% needed to be put into the Hall of Fame. In his first year of eligiblity the twice 60 club member got snubed. It will be interesting to see how history will veiw his drug (stariod) use and his single season home run records. When Sosa and Bond become eligible will they get the same snubing as McGuire? We will wait and see.

D. ORTIZ 54 HOMERS IN 2006

only a handfull of players hit 40 or more home runs in the minors in 2006.

Friday, September 29, 2006

With only four (4) games to go in the regular season only D. Ortiz and R. Howard have any chance to hit 60 homers. Ryan Howard who leades the leauge in home runs (Phillies)with 58 also has a .316 batting Avg. with 146 RBIs. He will need to hit two H.R.s in his last four games, very posible, it will be close. D. Ortiz of the Red Sox's has 54 home runs with four games to go. It's posible, but highly unlikley.
A look of the minors shows no one coming close to even 50 homers.
