Brad Eldred goes to Detroit. PHR leader as of May 1, 2012

As with most MiLB players who do well they get pulled up to MLB and have give up the Batting Title chase.

Selected by Pittsburgh in the 6th round of the June 2002 First-Year Player Draft...signed by Pirate scout Delvy Santiago...rated by Baseball America as the "Best Power Hitter" in the Pirates Minor League system and as the organization's 8th-best prospect prior to the 2005 season...Pittsburgh's Minor League Player-of-the-Year in 2004...2004 Carolina League Most Valuable Player and postseason All-Star...2002 New York-Penn League All-Star...1998 graduate of Coconut Creek High School (Fla.)...named First-Team All-State as a senior after batting .449 with 29 stolen bases and 39 runs scored...played four seasons of baseball (1999-2002) at Florida International University in Miami...hit .338 with 44 home runs and 142 RBIs over his four-year career with the Panthers...was a perfect 13-for-13 in stolen base attempts during his career...named the Sun Belt Conference Player-of-the-Year as a senior (2002), batting .358 with an NCAA-leading 29 home runs and 71 RBIs in 61 games...also was named a 2nd-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger...one of eight players selected to participate in the NCAA Home Run Challenge as part of the opening ceremonies for the 2002 College World Series...batted .411 with nine homers and an .849 slugging percentage en route to being named a First-Team All-Sun Belt performer in 2001...also made six relief appearances on the mound over two seasons (2000-01), going 1-0 with a 5.81 ERA (6.2 IP / 4 ER)...majored in Criminal Justice at FIU...wife's name is Cindy...resides in Coconut Creek, Fla.
