PHR STANDINGS AS OF AUG. 27, 2008

D. McPherson still leads all players with 40 homers, but he only has 6 games left to play. It looks like a good bet that no one will hit 45 homers this year. Only players with 32 or more homers are listed. The long ball title will go down to the end, only 5 PHR points between the top seven players.

PHR STANDINGS AS OF AUG. 18, 2008

ONLY PLAYERS WITH 30 OR MORE HOMERS ARE LISTED. MOST MINOR LEAGUES HAVE ABOUT A DOZEN GAMES LEFT AND MOST MLB PLAYERS HAVE ABOUT 38 GAMES LEFT. D. MCPHERSON OF THE AAA PCL AND C. QUENTIN OF THE CWS COULD BE FIGHTING IT OUT FOR THE HOME RUN TITLE. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT NOBODY WILL HIT 50 LONG BALLS THIS YEAR, BUT THAT WILL BE THE CASE IF SOMEONE DOESN'T PICK UP THE PACE.

PHR STANDINGS AS OF JULY 29, 2008

D. McPherson (38) and N. Cruz (37) have gone on a Home Run Spree this last week and lead all hitters. They are the only two who have a real chance of hitting 50 or more homers this year, and they play in a 144 game league.
Of the MLB players R. Braun has 29 homers to turn that race into a three way for the MLB batting title.

PHR STANDINGS AS OF JULY 21, 2008

The All Star break is behind us. R. Howard is looking like he won't slow down on his way to the batting tile for most Long Balls in a season. He leads with a PHR of 47.5. This will be the first year in quite some time that no one will hit 50 or more homers. You have to wonder what effect random drug testing has had on the low home run production this year.

PHR STANDINGS AS OF JULY 12, 2008

Ryan Howard, the pre-season favorite has taken the MLB long ball lead. He has pulled ahead of C. Utley by three homers and will never look back. Dallas McPherson leads the minors with a PHR of 48.9.
Howard may get to 55 homers this year, but I don't think anyone will hit 60.

11 other players hit 55 HRs

I don't think anyone will be added to this list this year. If a players name is not on this list they hit 60 or more homers or have never hit 55.
No player since 1962 has hit between 55 and 59 homers in one season.

2007
AFTER HAVING ABOUT 8 PLAYERS WITH PHR'S OF 60 OR BETTER AT MID SEASON WE NOW HAVE ONLY TWO PLAYERS TO HIT 50 OR MORE. ALEX RODRIGUEZ JUST MISSED MAKING THE ALMOST LIST BY ONE HOMER. SO AT THE END OF THE 2007 SEASON THERE WILL BE NO CHANGES TO THE RECORD BOOKS IN 'THE MOST HOME RUNS IN ONE SEASON CATEGORY'

PHR STANDINGS as of July 1, 2008

The top seven players stay the same, but the top five are all AAA players. The minors all play a 144 game season. The added 18 games that MLB play will mean that one of them will still win the long ball title this year. Dallas McPherson of the Pacific Coast League has the highest PHR. D. Uggla had a hot week, but sprain his ankle and will miss some games, he is tied with C. Utley for MLB HOME RUN LEAD.

Home run leaders have changed almost weekly. Home run totals are lowest they have been in a long time. Anyone of about 15 players have a chance to win the title, but I don't think the winner will hit 50 homers this year.

TOP 7 PHR LEADERS AS OF 06/20/08

As of today it seams that nobody is going to hit fifty homers this year. The top two PHR leaders are from the majors, the current top three home run leaders are from the minors. I have only listed the players that have 21 or more homers, there are only seven.

PHR......GP......GL......PGA......HR....PLAYER

If Uggla or Utley don't have 30 homers by the ALL STAR GAME, and I don't think they will, then 60 homers is out of the question for this year.

future book update. as of 6/10/08

On March 27, 2008 I listed the future book odds for the HR title
and for the players that will hit 40 or more HR's this year.
ANY OTHER PLAYER FROM MINORS LEADS (MIKE
HESSMAN) AT 75-1 TO HIT MOST HOMERS IN 2008
AND 250-1 IF HE HITS 60 OR MORE. AS OF TODAY
HESSMAN LOOKS GOOD, BUT WITH HALF THE SEASON
TO GO HE IS STILL THE LONGEST SHOT ON THE BOARD.

PHR STANDINGS AS OF 06/08/08

PHR'S ARE DROPPING FAST. AS OF TODAY NO ONE IS ON COURSE TO HIT 55 HOMERS (THE ALMOST LIST). C. UTLEY IS THE ONLY ML BALL PLAYER ON TRACK TO HIT 50 OR MORE AND ONLY M. HESSMAN IS ON TRACK TO 50 OR MORE IN THE MINORS.

M. HESSMAN PLAYS IN A 144 GAME SEASON LEAGUE, IF ADJUSTED TO 162 HIS PHR WOULD BE 54.5 TOPS IN ALL ORGANIZED BASE BALL AND STILL UNDER THE 55 ALMOST LIST.

IT JUST GOS TO SHOW WHAT A LITTLE MANDI TORY DRUG TESTING CAN DO FOR ( OR IS THAT TO) A SPORT.
